adventures in researching

finally have dates set for archival visits and letters of introduction. now i just have to figure out which friends up north will let me crash on their couch for a few days, and how i'm getting back home. trains going south have to share the track with freights and are typically delayed for at least six hours. greyhound is sounding more and more appealing by the day.
also, things that i have found are not conducive to research: yellow-jackets, sunburns, visiting relatives, house-painting sessions and the fumes that remain, unshelved library books, and hungry pets. feel free to add to this list as things are revealed to you.

hola chica como estas? me da cuenta de que, primero, no puedo hablar espanol y necesito tomar otra clase de esta lengua el semestre que viene y 2) that I now have a lot of ways to stalk you. Since this particular stalker question concerns the academia, I thought I'd get at you in your more academic online thing. And I know I keep bugging you about this, but erm the Watson? I think I'd like to go somewhere where they speak Spanish, rather than hightailing it off for Africa or Asia where (dios mio) they might think I'm acutally Korean. *gasp* Anyway, was thinking...well actually I haven't much, it was more of a half-asleep realization type thing. But I think I'd be interested to go South as much as go over to Europe...anyway, I'm actually at work, but I've already finished the work they gave me to do and so I thought I'd ramble on this. Hope the research is going well/that you find couches etc to sleep on at the univs. :)

this is what happens when you let smart women loose in libraries, rooms full of dusty old papers, or academically interesting places.
